Robert George Austin attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment at Brighton on 11 October 1915 and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 11 March 1916. Transferring to the Machine Gun Corps, he was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 25 May 1917, and subsequently served with the 257th Company in Mesopotamia. He was killed in action on 26 October 1918; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.Sold with copied research.;
