Description (What the record is about)
-
A large number of letters of a personal nature. The letters (most with envelopes) are, in the main, inadequately dated, and in many cases the stamp (and the postmark that would assist in dating) has been previously cut away. Most were written whilst Brock was abroad (particlularly Greece) pursuing archaeology. They are now tied into bundles, resting in their original envelopes, in an approximate date order, the vast majority of which fall into the period 1933-36. The bundles are as follows: bundle 1 (1933 - 27 letters); bundle 2 (1934 - 18 letters); bundle 3 (1935-36 - 19 letters); bundle 4 (1943-65 - 9 letters). Numbers of letters are approximate - some envelopes may contain more than a single letter, and a few letters are without envelopes. In addition to the letter bundles, there are four sheets (fragments).
