Description

Watson Esam and Co, solicitors of Sheffield. Deeds and some papers of the Watsons and of clients, relating to Sheffield, Braithwell, Tickhill and Matlock. (Deposited 1974).

Including:

Watson Estate: Thomas Watson's (d.1832) executor's papers relating to: Watson and Bradbury (silverplaters) partnership; gifts and legacies to charities; property at Holme wheel, Mulberry Street workshops, farms in Sheffield (Broomhall, Barrowfield, Pittsmoor and Hagg farms); bust of Watson; correspondence with doctors. 1832-1834. Subsequent deeds re Broomhall Street, Watson Road. 19th century. Settlement deed of Broomhall estate of Jessop family, 1696.

Newbould Partnerships: with Holy, Suckley, Holdsworth and others of Sheffield, as merchants and button makers, and for working a colliery at Intake. (Leader and Watson parties as executors). 1793-1829 (9).

Fox Estate: Deeds to properties acquired by Mrs. Elizabeth Fox and Edward Ward Fox, her son: Braithwell, including capital messuage (Bosvile and Birks), leases of Braithwell farms and bed of rudd (Beatson); Tickhill, including messuage in Northgate and parcels in town fields (Oddy and Booker, including wills), and messuage in Spittle Hill (Barlow, Billam and will of Dr. John Bourne of Wentworth House); other properties and families. 1692-c1860. (Numerous).

Lease and inventory of Hotham Hall, 1858.

Transfer of Dun Navigation shares of the Shore family, 1777-1833.

Greaves Estate: Deeds to Greenhills and other property in Matlock, Derbyshire acquired by John Greaves. (Walker, Melland, Knowles, Nuttall, Payne). 1698-1912 (55)

Various Sheffield deeds: Radford Street 1790-1886 (Greaves); Whitehouse Lane, Wicker, Pye Bank 1871-1900 (Cadman).

Other deeds: North Collingham, Nottinghamshire 1593 (Skothorne. 2 deeds).
