Half-leather bound album (boards detached and some pages loose) measuring 305x377mm and containing 45 albumen prints, generally in good condition. Prints 1-29 are pasted down on the album pages, with pencilled captions written beneath. The remaining prints were found inserted loose in the back of the album. The first 29 prints, the majority of which are by Saché, are views of the Himalayas, Naini Tal, Almora, Srinagar, Delhi, Cawnpore, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Lucknow and Bombay. The remaining loose prints comprise two Indian views, a view on the Suez Canal, three of Cairo and the Pyramids of Gizeh, three views of Alexandria, two views of Gibraltar, two unidentified views of a harbour and a garden, a British warship at her moorings, and two group portraits of the Haileybury Cricket XI, dated July 1876 and 1877. The album was found, without indication of provenance, during the transfer of the British Library from Bloomsbury to St Pancras. Rebound and boxed, December 1999. Process = Albumen prints.
