A catalogue of printed books in Sion College Library. The books are numbered sequentially 1-8028 and arranged in subject classes from case A1 to K13. Includes books published to c.1848 (eg. book numbered 6100 published in 1848). Begins: 'Case A1. Bibles, Concordances, etc. H.C.' This is the catalogue begun by Henry Christmas, afterwards Noel-Fearn (1811-1868), Librarian of Sion College, on his appointment in 1842. In 1849 a Committee of Sion College objected to the catalogue as confusing and impossible and urged the need for an alphabetical rather than a classified catalogue. Christmas was dismissed as Librarian in 1849 and finally evicted from Sion College in 1850. See E.H. Pearce, 'Sion College and Library' (Cambridge, 1913), pp. 316-325. Christmas was also a clergyman, journal editor, and numismatist; he was a Fellow of the Royal Society and professor of history and archaeology to the Royal Society of Literature. This catalogue was superceded by a copy of the catalogue of the Bodleian Library, annotated to record the holdings of Sion College (Sion L40.2/E174).

- Found amongst uncatalogued material transferred from Sion College to Lambeth Palace Library in 1996.

- Quarter leather binding, 525 x 390 mm., 2014. Unfoliated. Paper leaves. The catalogue was left incomplete, with many blank leaves following the text. Blank leaves were removed in rebinding in 2014.
