Amongst the members were found the names of prominent local individuals such as Issac Wilson, HWF Bolckow and John Vaughan. In 1961, following a Bill in Parliament introduced to enquire as the adequacy of docks and harbours for current and future needs, The Tees and Hartlepools Port Authority was introduced. In 1967 the Commission came under the control of the Tees and Hartlepool Port Authority.
