Description (What the record is about)
-
The Pagets originated near Barwell and Ibstock. Though successful farmers, being associates of Robert Bakewell, the family began to prosper when Thomas Paget (1778-1862) turned to banking and politics. The family moved to Humberstone Hall and then to Lubenham, where they had acquired the manor in 1843.
This first part of the collection consists of the deeds, plans, surveys and valuations to the estates around Ibstock (from 1469) with later deeds to Humberstone and Lubenham. There are also political papers and legal records from the family's solicitors, Messrs. Latham and Paddison.
