Collection of half-plate glass negatives, the work of Hugh Fraser Macmillan, Curator of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. The negatives are in various conditions; some are well preserved, some have had patches of emulsion eaten away and three negatives have corners chipped off (two have been repaired). The collection comprises portraits (including Macmillan's wife and daughters), social life scenes, views of the botanical gardens, plantations, ethnographical studies, modes of transport, Victoria Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Kandy (probably a copy of a Skeen & Co photograph), carol singers, bungalows and village life. Print 2 was used to illustrate Macmillan's 'Handbook of Tropical Gardening' (1910). Process = Glass negatives. Photographers = Hugh Fraser Macmillan.,;.
