Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company was established in Darlington in 1877. In 1967 the company was purchased by Cementation. In 1969 Cementation was purchased by Trafalgar House. In 1977 Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Middle East was established. In 1996 Trafalgar House was purchased by Kvaerner. In 2000 there was a management buyout. In 1982 Dorman Long (including Redpath Dorman Long) was purchased by Trafalgar House.
