The Dashera Diwali Mela has been organised by the Manchester Indian Association since 2006. The event was originally held in Platt Fields Park (2006-2012). It was then moved to the city centre location of Albert Square and Manchester Town Hall in 2013. The main elements that make up the mela are performances on stage, dance and craft workshops, community lantern procession, stalls, and a finale show with fireworks
