Maria Wilmshurst of North Pallant, Chichester, wid., to The London Brighton and South Coast Railway Company

Pieces of land (1a) in New Fisbourne, forming parts of the piece of land distinguished by No. 9 in New Fishbourne parish in the plans and book of reference deposited with the Clerk of the Peace [W.S.R.O., QDP/W176] for the purposes of the London Brighton and South Coast Railway Act 1877 [Local Act, 40 & 41 Vict. cap. xxviii]

Covenant for the production of the above deeds of 19, 20 Apr. 1811 [i.e. Add Mss1142, Add Mss1143], and of indenture, 23 Mar. 1860 [apparently a conveyance from the devisees in trust for sale under the will of James Gates to Thomas Wilmshurst]

Recites: (i) that (a) is absolutely entitled to the above land in fee simple; (ii) that the land is required for the purpose of the railway and works authorised by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway (Chichester and Midhurst Railway) Act 1876 [Local Act, 39 & 40 Vict. cap.cix] and the said Act of 1877; (iii) that by virtue of these Acts, the Company have agreed for the purchase of the above land for £593 3s. 9d., this sum to include compensation for all damages, loss and injury sustained by (a) through the severing of her lands
