Description

Consideration: the manors of Buelthe, Paynes Castle, Istemeneth, Abredone Royle, Coydepoythe and Elvell co Brecon and Radnor, and the manor of Eayngton co York, 1/3rd of the manor of Norton Bavent co Staffs, the manor and rectory of Alton Stowell co Wilts, the manor of Deane Court co Kent and divers other manors etc. by our beloved and faithful kinsman and Councillor William Parl of Pembroke, knight of the most noble order of the Garter and President of our Council in the principality of Wales and the Marches, and a sum of £396 6s. 8d. paid to the Treasurer of the Court of Augmentations to the king's use

Grant to the Earl of Pembroke and to William Clerke of Poomesborne co Heref. gentleman the Hundred of Churburye with members etc.

(Note in different ink of an omission), to hold to them and to the heirs and assigns of the Farl of Pembroke for ever, in chief by military service of 20th part of a knight's fee for all services.

(2) Copy inquisition taken at Hereford 19th July 2 Mary (1554) before Richard Monyngton, John Baskerville and Richard Seborne, esqres, commissioners for the Queen, on the death of John Lyngen, esq., on oaths of Roger Hereford, esq., John Harper, gent., John Monyngton, gent., William Clarke, etc.

John Lyngen was seized, inter alia, in the manor of Shelve co Salop, 10 messuages, 100 acres land, 60 acres meadow and 200 acres pasture in Shelve in his demesne as of fee. He died thus seized, after whose death the said manor of Shelve descended to Jane Lyngen as his daughter and heir. The manor and the rest of the premises in Shelve are held of the queen and are worth annually besides reprises £4 13s. 4d.
