Administrative / biographical background

The lodge was established in 1800, although the Warrant was not received until March 1801 and was attached to the Second Battalion Fifty-second Regiment, based in Ashford and then in Dover and numbered 170B. Late 1802 the regiment appears to have transferred to the First Battalion Ninety-sixth Regiment.
