PHOTOGRAPHS AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO MR DHARAM SINGH LANDA AND FAMILY

Mr Dharam Singh Landa was born on 1st August 1944 in Lahore, Pakistan. His mother's name is Lajvanti Kaur and his father's name is Bhil Singh Landa. Dharam Singh is the eldest of six children. The other children are Rani Kaur, born 10-12-47; Europe Singh, born 17-11 48; Harpadjan Kaur, born 29-6-49; Kher Singh, born 15-5-50; Gurdass Singh, born 8-8-62.

Dharam came to England with his parents and younger sister, Rani, in 1947 at the age of three and has lived in Manchester ever since, Dharam's father was a very affluent member of the Sikh community of Manchester. He befriended most early Sikh migrants and aided them financially, found them accommodation and generally helped in any way he could. Mr Bhil Singh was a pedlar, property owner, retailer, garage owner and coal merchant, Dharam is a property owner and is now the proud owner of a Taxi business. Dharam married Ranjit Kaur on 10 August 1962. She also lived in Manchester. They now have three sons: Mohinder Singh, born 26-10-65; Suckwinder Singh, born 21-10-67; Dharminder Singh, born 18-3-71.
