Administrative / biographical background

The Union Lodge No. 310 was named and established in 1796. In 1796 the lodge met at the Grapes Inn, Scotch Street, Carlisle, Cumbria. In 1840 the lodge met at the Pine Apple Inn, English Street, Carlisle and remained there until the lodge united in 1855 with the Victoria Lodge No. 882, which met at Light Horseman Inn, Rickergate, Carlisle. The united lodge, which used the name Union Lodge continued to met at the Pine Apple Inn until 1858 when they moved to the Light Horseman Inn, Rickergate. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall, Portland Square, Carlisle.
