Description

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/D/1-19 This section of charters relates to Deopham manor, which lies about 10 miles south west of Norwich in Norfolk. DCc-Register/B, ff213v-222v, contains 47 charters for Deopham and there are 25 charters for Deopham in DCc-Register/E, ff391r-394v.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/D/20-37 These charters relate to the manor of Doccombe in Moreton Hampstead parish in Devon. Doccombe lies on the edge of Dartmoor, some 10 miles west of Exeter. The manor was granted to Canterbury Cathedral Priory by William de Traci, one of Becket's murderers, in about 1174 (see DCc-ChAnt/D/20). DCc-Register/B, ff392r-394r, contains 10 charters for Doccombe and there are 3 charters relating to Doccombe in DCc/Register/E, f395r.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/D/38-106B These documents relate to Dover, particularly Canterbury Cathedral Priory's attempts to exercise sede vacante jurisdiction over Dover Priory and the disputes arising from this. The dispute is summarised by J B Sheppard in Historical Manuscripts Commission Fifth Report (London, 1876), Appendix, p441. DCc-Register/C, ff74r-79v, contains 7 charters relating to Dover. DCc-ChAnt/D/83 is registered in the compositions sections of DCc-Register/A and DCc-Register/E.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/D/107-122 This section of documents relates to miscellaneous places beginning with D, and includes 2 letters relating to the claim of Bernard, bishop of St David's, to independence from the archbishop of Canterbury (DCc-ChAnt/D/107-108).

DCc-ChAnt/D/123-124 These documents have not previously been catalogued. They relate to Deopham.
