From the bundle of eschaetors records for 15 Edward II, no 34. Writ to Master John Walewayne, his eschaetor beyond Trent, to hold an inquest on the death of Peter Corbet of Caus, tenant in chief.

Inquisition held at Salop Tuesday after the feast of St. John Baptist in the 15th year of king Edward son of king Edward, by oaths of Hugh de Say, Richard de Longenalr', Phillip de Polileye, Hugh Mauncel, Roger Mayow, Richard Hord of Routon, Thomas son of Roger Marton, Roger Bron, Thomas de Felton, Alan de Rossall, Nicholas son of Philip de Horton and William son of John de Horton. They say that Peter Corbet held nothing from the king in chief and that Peter and Beatrix his wife held the manors of Caus, Yokelhull, ayelun, Schelve, Binneweston, Forton, Hemme, overegorther, Nertheregorther, and Bagestref in co Salop by gift and feoffment of Hugh Bergam, chaplain, who feoffed them and their heirs of their bodies in the manors by licence of the king and by fine in the king's court.

These manors are held of the king in chief by barony, viz. for the service of 5 knights fees; and are worth p.a. 200 marks.

John Corbet brother of Peter and son of Peter Corbet father of the said Peter now deceased, is the next of kin, and was aged 24 at Ladyday last.
