'Mr Macauley has just been here to inform us that Mrs William Fell has been endeavouring to force her eldest daughter to go to Leeds to be received into the Roman Catholic Church by Baptism, as she herself has made up her mind to join that body. The Child is very much averse to the step her Mother wants to take, and taking occasion to go out to take her lesson with the Clergyman who resides in the village where her mother is, she set off to Mr Macauley's which is sons 2 or 3 miles distant from her Mothers, and having told her tale of Distress, Mr Macauley took the Child and has made up his mind to keep her from the mother (if he possibly can. Mrs Fell has been a source of real trouble to her Father since Mr Fell's death, and he now wishes to know whether the Mother can obtain the possession of the Child except through the Court of Chancery - we advise him to keep the Child ...'
