I am researching the life of Henry Bodenham because we intend to commemorate his life by celebrating mass at Rothwas Chapel (English Heritage) in September. Henry Edward Hyacinth Charles Bodenham was born in 1896, he attended Downside School from 1908 to 1914, he then went up to Trinity College Cambridge. He joined the army in 1915 and served as a 2Lt in 11 Black Watch. As a lieutenant he transferred into the Machine Gun Corps and was killed at the Battle of the Somme on 7 September 1916. He is buried at the CWGC Peronne Road Cemetery, Maricourt, Somme. I understand that there may be a photograph of his headstone. If you have any information concerning this officer I would very much like to receive it.
Yours sincerely
Colonel Bob Richardson-Aitken
