Karakoram (photographs)

Forty-two photographs (b/w) taken by Schomberg, nearly all with captions written in pencil on the back. Most are landscape photographs, a few with human subjects. The photographs are associated with the travels recounted in R C F Schomberg, Unknown Karakoram (1936).

Although only one of the photographs, that of "The Oprang and Mustagh Valleys seen from just below the summit of the Ghorjerab Spur" (facing p. 88), is published in the book, the remaining photographs have page references in their captions that key each photograph to its relevant passage in the volume.

The file also includes the front of the envelope in which the photographs were posted by the Royal Geographical Society/R C F Schomberg to the Royal Central Asian Society (late 1930s), marked "Photographs India".
