p.54. 5 Oct. 1871. Lindsey magistrates to have use of assize courts for trying Louth and Kirton prisoners
p.98. 3 Oct. 1872. Magistrates prepared to sell the Lincoln barracks to the War Department under the 'Military Forces Localization Act' (1872)
p.152. 2 Apr. 1874. A committee of magistrates (6 from each division) appointed to consider the inadequate use made of the gaol
(John Francis Burton appointed clerk to the committee.)
p.162. 25 June 1874. Committee recommends adaption of gaol as a house of correction
p.172. 1 Oct. 1874. J.F. Burton appointed clerk on death of Frederick Burton (on 10 Sept.)
The Lincoln City prisoners are to be received in the new Lindsey prison, so the approach to the City to lodge their prisoners in the gaol is abandoned
p.198. 24 June 1875. (The Lincoln barracks are now rented by the War Office)
p.292. 4 Apr. 1878. Visiting committee appointed under the Prison Act (1877). A Castle Committee also appointed, to deal with all the county property other than the prison. If the Home Office decide to close the prison, its reconveyance to the county to be negotiated

p.302. 27 June 1878. Prison to be bought back by the county for £1,220. The county are willing to sell the Lincoln barracks to the war department for £10,000
p.327. 3 Apr. 1879. A committee to consider the use of the old gaol, now reconveyed to the County
p.342. 2 Oct. 1879. The Lincoln barracks having been vacated by the War Office, it is decided to let them rather than attempt to sell them
A sale of furniture and effects ordered. Question of letting the Grantham barracks also considered
p.350. 1 Jan. 1880. Rebbecca Hussey's Charity to be applied to the prisoners in Lincoln prison since the government now provides a chaplain to preach to them
p.402. 6 Oct. 1881. A good assembly of South Lincolnshire magistrates agrees to the retention of the Grantham barracks by the army (as tenants) for a brigade depot
p.410. 29 Dec. 1881. Death of the Hon. A.L. Melville, county treasurer since 1836. A.H.L. Melville to succeed him
p.416. 30 Mar. 1882. A single county rate now levied in Holland, so the order of 1 Apr. 1841 fixing the proportion of Elloe as against that of Kirton and Skirbeck is rescinded
p.452. 28 June 1883. Alteration in Grantham coroner's district proposed following the extension of the borough (under an Act of 1879)
p.472. 3 Apr. 1884. Castle and grounds to be opened to the public at 2d. per head. Plan for accommodating the Lindsey and Kestevan petty sessions
