Description (What the record is about)
-
All short, the great majority written from the family residences at Wycombe, Gayhurst and Whitehall; they include letters to his son when the latter was at school and university. They are mainly taken up with family news with occasional references to local affairs and (later) to local and national politics, the militia and the weather. The tone of the letters is affectionate and relations between father and son appear to have been uniformly good.
