Deeds of St. Thomas Priory, Stafford
The priory was founded in 1174 by Gerard Fitz Bryan and dissolved in 1538. (V.C.H. III, p.260-67).
These deeds were acquired at Sotheby's in 1967 at one of the sales of the collections of Sir Thomas Phillips. The "Phillips" numbers of each document are given in [ ] in the list. The deeds were calendared by Miss L.M. Midgley, former librarian of the William Salt Library.
