Title
Pay and allowances of the civil and military services of India and Burma
Date
1688-1963
Description

Records of the issues of leave, furlough and duty pay, allotments of pay, marriage and separation allowances, overseas pay, war gratuities and miscellaneous effective allowances to members of the civil and military services of India and Burma. For many of the volumes in this series the dates of commencement and termination are only approximate as the volumes overlapped in their use. In particular with leave pay and furlough accounts, it was customary to continue payments in an old account until the entitlement was terminated. Leave pay was first paid to personnel of the military service in 1795, to those of the marine service in 1798, and to civil servants in 1825.
