Created as two schools in 1812: the Boy's School was originally sited in New Park Road, and the Girl's School in 1812, which was moved in 1813 to a site in the Cathedral Yard. It was moved again to Chapel Street, in 1884. In 1826, the Managers took over the Infants' School in Tower Street. In 1968 the Boys and Girls' School were amalgamated to the Central Schools' present site in Orchard Street, which was enlarged by the building of an entrance and administration block in July 2000.
