Description

Deeds, court rolls and papers relating to an estate at Studley belonging to Robert Knight of Barrells Park and to an estate at Wem, Shropshire, the property of Captain Henry Calveley Cotton and his wife, Georgiana, grand-daughter of Robert Knight.

Administrative / biographical background

Robert Knight (1768-1855) was the illegitimate son of Robert Baron Luxborough, Viscount Barrells and Earl of Catherlough and was bequeathed the family estates in and around Wootton Wawen, Studley and Oldberrow on the latter's death in 1772. For further details on the family, see DR 886.
