Maxwell 1879 xliv described this record as a "journal containg notes of every observation as it was made, with the particulars of the experiments, and measurements of the apparatus". It is paginated p1-28 and then followed by 14 loose pages. These experiments were written up by Henry Cavendish in HY/1/7.
The record is enclosed in a covering page on which is written by William Snow Harris: "No 12 Electrical Experiments in 1771 this was about the date of the Paper in the Phil. Transactions Vol LXI page 584 ["An attempt to explain Some of the Principle Phenomena of Electricity by Means of an Elastic Fluid"] but made probably subsequently to its publication". At the top is written in red pen "No 12" and at the bottom is a note in pencil: "Capacities whether dependent or potential".
