Title
F. Chambre to Hill.
Date
Petton, 7th December, 1725
Description

He has received Hill on the 2nd with his note for £500 which sum he will pay to Mr. Griffith as soon as the marriage is over which he thinks will be sooner than the 18th. I have given my Sister Nancy notice of your great kindness in giving her £100 for clothing for which she is exceedingly thankful. Chambre will pay such a sum as she directs.

On next Monday the writings shall be executed.

Joseph and 4 men will have sufficient business in fencing their new planting during the remaining working part of the month. Nothing can be done this winter about the pool Hill mentions, so Chambre will employ them for three weeks after Christmas storing the nurseries etc. He cannot say more than he has to Joseph about getting acorns, seeds, plants and suckers in good plenty of all sorts to prevent in the future this great charge of buying. He fears they will not have half the ground appointed for the nursery filled. He hopes to wait on Hill in Richmond or London about the latter end of next month, and he hopes that "your health will let you be at the later this winter."

Post script. He asks it if would be amiss to buy many young plants of a years growth, which would be cheap to buy, to make up what Joseph shall want in filling his nursery. He believes it would be money well laid out, considering the great charge of buying them of a size fit for transplanting. Much planting needs to be done at Hawkestone along the hedges.
