This church was originally a chapel-of-ease to Westbury-on-Trym, built by John Cossins of Redland Court in 1740 as his private chapel. It was consecrated in 1790 and in 1942 Redland became a separate parish with the chapel as its Parish Church. The Old Vicarage is now Electricity Board offices, a new Vicarage having been built in 1956-7 on part of the garden of the former Vicarage.
