Description

Letters addressed to Matthew Prior, as Secretary of Embassy and Resident at the Hague, by Secretaries of State and others, both on public and private affairs; 5 Apr., 1693, 16 May, 1694-29 Dec., 1696. A brief calendar of the contents of the letters is prefixed, and the same is the case in the volumes following. The names of the writers are all indexed. Among them are: Gilbert Burnet, Bishop of Salisbury; Charles Sackville, Earl of Dorset; Thomas Herbert, Earl of Pembroke; Sir William Trumbull, Sec. of State; James Vernon, Under-Sec. of State (52 letters); and Charles Talbot, Duke of Shrewsbury, Sec. of State.
