Gallantry Notes: MC: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, whilst attached, with four guns, to an infantry company under orders to counter attack. He succeeded in taking his guns forward under intense shell fire to the best position obtainable, and after all of the officers of the company became casualties he took command, and led the company to their objective. His fearlessness and initiative were the admiration of all.
War Diary 63 Bn 27/3/1918: "Five guns were attached to the ARTISTS (28 London) Four of which participated in the attack by this Bn. They were lad by Lieut Pearson ("C" Coy) - they advanced 2 miles under heavy fire and did most excellent work. Amongst other things, they put two hostile MGs out of action";
