Title
Title deeds of Baldock and Weston, and official papers of the Hitchin Turnpike and Ivel Navigation, 1340-1933
Date
1340-1933
Description

A miscellaneous collection relating to the town of Baldock and annexed land in surrounding common fields of Willian, Weston, Bygrave, and Clothall and an outlying estate at Hinxworth and Ashwell, all properties associated with Izzard and Thurgood families, ancestors of the Pryors and so associated with the Simpsons Brewery and Weston Collections. In addition there are deeds of Baldock Place, which seems to have descended to Isaac Hindley, treasurer of the Ivel Navigation. The deeds of the Pryors' former London house in New Street, Covent Garden also appear.

The medieval deeds of Duck Lake House, Ashwell, throw a good deal of light on the descent of Hinxworth which seems to have been long associated with that village
