These drawings bear letter codes.Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 983. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 322, 324.
For the Austrian Lloyd's Steam Navigation Co. One set of drawings was used for all six sets of engines. The second pair of engines to be sent, GA and GB, was intended for the Germania but was lost when the ship carrying them sank en route in 1848. Therefore the third pair of engines, FC and FD, originally intended for the Europa, was placed in the Germania, and the Europa received the fourth pair, FE and FF. The name of the boat which received the fifth pair, FG and FH, is unclear; Engine Order Book No. 13 gives the boat as the Italia, but the note is only made in pencil, and Boat Engine Book No. 6 does not give a name for the boat. Henry Hazleton allocated separate portfolio numbers to all the sets of engines, despite the fact that they did not have separate drawings: Italia's was Pf. 1192; Germania's first set was Pf. 1193; her second set was Pf. 1194; Europa's was Pf. 1195; the fifth set was Pf. 1196, and Asia's was Pf. 1197.
