Will of Peter Briggins of Bartholomew the Great, London, tobacconist. to wife Maranbella Briggins for life, rem. to heirs of body.
House wherein I now dwell with two other houses adjoining, occ. Albian Lead & Wm. Jefford, one on each side, all freehold, all built by my order, on ground on which formerly stood an old house bought of me of J. Silveta ? & ... 2 houses & ground in Mile End, Mddx., mortgaged by late father & brother, Wm. Briggins ... which I purchassed of him, & purchased the equity of redemption of Thos. Stone, & settled on wife before marriage 3 houses occ. J. Darby, Fra. Heatley, & in parish of Bartholomew the Great, purchased of wife's father, Thos. Farmborough, for £600, & settled on wife in lieu of several old houses at Hoxton also Hogsdon which I sold for £250.
Ground rent of King's Head Inn, Southwark, purchased of Stephen Thomas & others for £1050, settled on wife in lieu of several old houses in Dogshead Yard, in Old Street, which I sold to Jos. Townsend for £427.
To wife, to be disposed of among children as she wishes, or else to be shared equally: - House occ. Philip Nicholls in Threadneadle St., purchased of Theodore Drage.
House & ground bought of Geo. Rogers, adjoining J. Darby's dwelling house, occ. Eben Hadgell.
House & tenements in Half Moon Alley, parish of Bartholomew, occ. Wm. Prier, purchased of Stephen Perry to 2 eldest daughters, Mercy & Susannah - £1079.17.61½each.
To 3 younger daughters, Hannahbella, Gulielma & Mariabella Farmborough - £1600 each total £6951.15.1. stock in the Chamber of the City of London. Each is to receive her part at 21.
To 2 eldest daughters, Mercy & Susannah - half each of the estate left by testator's brother Wm. Briggins, by will 22 Nov. 1698 which amounts to over £1200 to late sister's son, Wm. Tibey - £50
To cousin Jos. Briggins & sister Ann Bridger - £5 ea. to Mariabella Blake & her sister Mary Hewitt - 2 guineas to Geo. Conyers, Joshua Bethray & Riche. Brookes - 1 guinea each.
To friends J. Skelton, J. Haywood, J. Everitt, Philip Harman..Rich,.Taylor & Wm. Peters - 40s. each.
To friends J. Staple & Gilbert Mollison - £50 to be disposed of to the poor to poor of parish where I now live - £5
Executrix - wife Mariabella.Farmborough
Overseers - brother of Thos F, Farmborough 10 guineas.
