Depositions of Christopher Hicks of Shrewsbury gentleman, Joseph Birch of Shrewsbury builder, Samuel Caradine of Coleham baker and Thomas Deakes of Frankwell shoemaker, relating to the Earl of Tankerville's purchase about 1808 from Sir Richard Hill of Hawkestone bart. (since deceased) for £25,500 of several messuages in Shrewsbury and in Castle Foregate, Coleham and Frankwell. Hicks was a witness to the purchase, Birch a surveyor and valuer employed at the time, and Deakes is very well acquainted with the Frankwell part of the purchase. They have examined Birch's original survey and compared it with subsequent valuations and with the descriptions of the lots given in the printed sale particulars, and say they are identical.
