Administrative / biographical background: Dorman Long Housing Company Ltd was established in February 1925, Registered office: Zetland Road, Middlesbrough. Directors listed as: Mr Charles Dorman (Chairman),F.I. Byrne, T.H. Stubbs. Established with the aim of building houses both in close proximity to works of Dorman Long Ltd and her affiliated companies and organisations. Little activity occurred from c.1930 - 1938, it had been declared in 1932 that the cash in the company's hands be loaned to Dorman Long and Company Ltd. free of interest. In October 1937, owing to the fact that the company had been inactive for a number of years and that there was no likelihood of a resumption of trading, it was resolved to recommend to the board of Dorman Long and Co Ltd that the company be 'wound up'. The company was duly wound up in March 1938.
