Letter from James Roberts, Worshipful Master, Mariner's Lodge, No. 450, Liverpool, to John Allen, Clements' Inn, London mentioning a recent visit to London over the Christmas and New Year period and concerns raised in correspondence received by John Shortcliffe, Senior Warden. Roberts has retained the Lodge warrant, despite Shortcliffe assuming the title of Worshipful Master, as the former experienced trouble arising from unsettled financial problems and complains about the inebriety of the Wardens and general poor conduct of local freemasons, except for members of Merchant's Lodge, No. 428, Liverpool [SN 976].
