Administrative / biographical background

The documents comprising this collection were collected by the late Charles Edward Baker of Sherwood, Nottinghamshire, for the purpose of genealogical research into the family of Baker. Not all of the deeds and papers in the collection refer to people named Baker, and it was assumed at the time the collection was listed that Mr Baker had purchased groups of deeds of which only a fraction actually related to the Baker family.
