Description (What the record is about)
-
It was decided to employ a district nurse at the inaugural meeting held at Hartfield Rectory on 11 November 1895. The services of the nurse were for the poor and working classes of Hartfield; it was hoped that anyone earning over 20s a week would give an offering to the fund for the nurse's services. The Hartfield Nursing Association affiliated with the Queen's Institute of District Nurses in 1902, amalgamated with the Withyham District Nursing Association in 1937, and became the Hartfield and Groombridge District Nursing Association in February 1960. The association was dissolved in 1970, and it was decided to form a committee to administer its remaining trust funds. The committee was disbanded in 1992 and its funds handed over to a hospice covering the Tunbridge Wells area.
