Collection of 126 loose photographic reproductions of watercolour sketches and washes made by Sir Edward Law Durand while attached to the Afghan Boundary Commission between 1884 and 1886. The original drawings of the majority of these copies are held in the India Office Library collection (ref. WD 376-475) and are listed in Mildred Archer, 'British Drawings in the India Office Library' (vol I, pp.170-82, HMSO, London, 1969). Photo 12 also contains a list cross-referencing the originals with the copies, and a 4pp letterpress catalogue evidently produced to accompany the photographic copies. Original drawings are not held for 36 of the copies in this collection and 15 of the copies are duplicated. Second set of prints, mounted in an album, at Photo 231. The collection also includes three loose albumen prints as follows:. 127. On the Hari Rud after a hot march. Camels drinking at river. 128. Outside of ancient fire temple near Firozabad - my sketch book gives a bad idea of central room - this taken by [?]Ihtis nan ud Doulah son of Prince Goo[---] of Fars a nephew of Shah of Persia. Recd. June 19th/78. General view of temple ruins. 129. [Caption illegible, probably a Persian scene]. View looking across a valley towards a walled village.
