Folios 299-300. Appointment Form for Maria Stratton as nurse in the workhouse of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union The form shows Stratton formerly of Brighton, now to reside in the workhouse had previously been employed as a cook there. The salary to be £20 per annum and 1s per week in lieu of beer. The post became vacant after Elizabeth Sackamore quitted office on 8 September 1879. Sackamore gave a months' notice to leave but did not state a cause.
Annotated: 'Salary of Late Nurse £25 per annum. Maria Stratton does not appear to have had any experience as a Nurse'.
Annotated: 'For £20 the Guardians might obtain a trained nurse. But M Stratton has been sometime in office. There has been a change of Clerks'. 29 December 1879.
