Court-Book of manors of Henry Grey, 3rd Marquis of Dorset [cr. Duke of Suffolk 1551, beheaded 1554], in Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall, 6 Sept. 25 Hen. VIII. [1533] - 17 May, 36 Hen. VIII. [1544].
The arrangement is simply chronological, the entries relating to the same manor not being kept together. In the old numeration the first leaf is CXLIII, so that the beginning of the volume is wanting. The manors referred to include:-
co. Devon: Church-Staunton, Kentisbeare, Lympston, Woodbury, Shute, Ilfracombe, Coleridge, Northcote, Brendon, Umfraville-Axminster, Sidmouth, Knoweston, Greenlinch in Silverton, Brixham, Combpyne, Haccombe-fee, Down-Umfraville.
co. Somerset: Merriott, Stapleton, Chewton, Puckington, Huntspill Thurlbear, Porlock, Pixton, Limington, Lillesdon.
co. Dorset: Moreton, Bere, Barne, Sturminster-Marshall.
co. Cornwall: Trelawne.
