File on Birmingham Repertory Theatre Appeal fund (1969 - 1971) [appeal organised by Sir Robert Aitken, Chairman of Directors and Oscar Hahn, Director] includes letters regarding contributions to the appeal e.g. from individuals, the Actors' Church Union, also ideas for money raising concerts, lists of contributors, letter from Aitken to Lord Mayor concerning invitation to Princess Margaret to open the new building - Rep preferred Prince Charles and Council appeared to have approached her without Rep's knowledge, appeal updates.
File on Appeal lists ( - 1971) includes letter applying to Gulbenkian Foundation for grant; notice of auction to raise money for the appeal (June 1971) - selling items such as furniture that belonged to Sir Barry Jackson, sword used by Richard Chamberlain when he played Hamlet, asking public to donate items that can be auctioned; report on 'Fund Raising For The Arts' conference organised by the Arts Council and City University (1976); lists of business and private contributions; lists of companies that have not contributed.
File on BASIL (BAS Information Limited) (1980 - 1983) - reasons for winding up of company and closure of Birmingham Arts shop that was created to supply marketing and box offices services for Birmingham arts venues (including The Rep) [system originally set up by the Arts Council with additional regional support and funding]. Includes reports, correspondence, minutes, draft budgets, winding up process with liquidators, accounts, plans for computerised box office system with booklets on BOCS 'Box Office Computer System' [see also unsorted box 143]
