Administrative / biographical background (Historical or biographical information about the creator of the record and the context of its creation)
-
The Birmingham Constituency Committees were appointed around July and August 2003. They were intended to provide local representation at constituency level for constituents of their respective wards, also acting as a point of contact for local parliamentary representatives, the Council, and the electors represented by the MP of each respective constituency. From around the spring of 2004 they became known as district committees. The committees provide much the same functions at local level that the Ward Committees do (see BCC 2). As of December 2008 there are committees representing the constituencies of Edgbaston, Erdington, Hall Green, Hodge Hill, Ladywood, Northfield, Perry Barr, Selly Oak, Sutton Coldfield, and Yardley.
