Phoenix Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 485 on 20 May 1786 and consecrated on 7 February 1786. The Lodge met at the George Tavern, 31 High Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 395 in 1792, as No. 484 after the union between the Moderns' and Antients' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England in 1814, as No. 319 in 1832 and finally as No. 257 in 1863. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Rooms, 110 High Street, Portsmouth.
