Pewter tanker presented to the museum on permanent loan by Mr. Harold Gilbert Kiloran Perrymead, Prestwich (tel.773 7183). The tankard is inscribed: "Officers Revolver Court Altcar. Sweepstake won by Lt. E.H.Q. Henriques (3rd V.B.K.L.R.) Oct. 1918". V.B.K.L.R. stands for 'Voluntary Batallion of Kings' Loyal Rifles'. The Henriques family were a well-known, wealthy, Anglicised Jewish merchant family. Mr. Gilbert bought the tankard at an auction of the Henriques property in Southport.
