Description

Papers of Robert Beloe on various subjects

Papers of Beloe as a member of the Mauritius Electoral Boundary Commission appointed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies on 15 July 1957. They include, in addition to drafts of the commission's report, evidence, and government telegrams: a photograph of the members of the commission (f.1); a list of candidates for election in 1959 (ff.77-85); a report on the result of the election in 1959 (ff.93-7). The report of the commission was published under the title Report of the Mauritius electoral boundary commission (Mauritius-Legislative-Council Sessional Paper no.1 of 1958). See also MS 3260 (ff.1-97).

Papers concerning Beloe's appointment to visit the World Council of Churches in Geneva on behalf of the Anglican Communion, with a copy of his report, 1969 (ff.98-112).

Relations with other Churches. Statistic of voting on proposals for Anglican-Methodist unity in each diocese of the Church of England, in the House of Laity, and in the Referendum of the Clergy in both Houses of Convocation, 1969 (ff.113-233v).

List of successful and unsuccessful candidates for election from the diocese of Southwark to the House of Laity of the General Synod of the Church of England, with their election addresses, 1970 (ff.234-261v).
