Description (What the record is about)
-
Green cloth-covered portfolio, titled I. Groneman. In den Kedaton in gold on front cover, containing 17 carbon prints mounted on card, with descriptive text in Dutch on separate leaves. The collection records a Javanese dance performance in the Kraton at Yogyakarta. The portfolio is accompanied by a small volume of descriptive text. Although first published in 1888, the photographs themselves were taken by Cephas in 1884. This set appears to be a later reissue of the original publication: compare its clearly later binding with the earlier copy at BL shelfmark 1783.a.16. Awaiting detailed listing. Subjects = carbon prints; dance; dress.
