Founded in 1934, at its peak the Hurst Residents Association could boast a membership of 2,000 and published its own magazine, 'Hurstra' with a readership of 5,000. In 1954 the Association absorbed the Hurst and District Community Association. Due to dwindling numbers the Association was disbanded in about 1980.
