1294a. Herland (H). May 1798. 1 item.
Single-acting engine, with 18 inch cylinder, 4 foot stroke.Working gear - reverse front and side views. This drawing bears a letter code.
Catalogue of Old Engines p. 304.
For Herland Mine. The order of an 18 inch cylinder, working gear etc. by Herland Mine in May 1798 is recorded in Engine Order Book No. 1, where it is given the code "H". However, this order may have been for a rebuild of the former Wheal Maid rotative engine which Herland Mine bought [see Portfolio 5/1326]. It is unclear where this drawing was originally kept, but Henry Hazleton placed it with the drawings of the 64 inch cylinder ordered by Herland Mine in 1799 [see Portfolio 5/1294b below].
